DAMASCUS, SYRIA (10:25 P.M.) – Astonishing footage has emerged of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) deploying a surface-to-surface missile at close range against an island controlled by ISIS along the Euphrates River in Deir Ezzor Province.
The video, released by the SAA’s official media wing today, shows one of the SAA’s so-called ‘UR-77 Metorit’ rocket launchers firing at an ISIS strongpoint little more than one hundred meters away:
According to one report, government troops had tried to capture the island for several days but were met by surprisingly stiff ISIS resistance, rendering an assault by boat highly risky.
Given no civilians were present on the island, the SAA chose to obliterate it instead. No ISIS members were said to have survived the massive explosion.
In related news, the SAA’s seasoned Tiger Forces scored a humongous advance in southern Deir Ezzor on Tuesday, bringing them within a few kilometers of linking up with allied forces at Abu Kamal.
