Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei termed US sanctions against Iran as “unprecedented” and lambasted US officials as “first class idiots” during a speech in Qom on Wednesday.
“The Americans themselves happily say that these sanctions are unprecedented in history. Yes, they are unprecedented in history and the defeat that the Americans will face will be unprecedented, God willing,” Khamenei said.
“Some of the US officials pretend that they are crazy. Of course, I don’t agree with that, but they are first-class idiots,” Iran’s supreme leader said.
The US reinstated sanctions on Iran after exiting last year from the Iranian nuclear agreement.
