BEIRUT, LEBANON (4:30 P.M.) – The U.S. military sent a large number of reinforcements to the Iraqi-Syrian border as the Iranian-backed Hashd Al-Shaabi forces prepare to start a new operation in this region.

According to Turkish state-owned Anadolu News Agency, the U.S. military sent reinforcements to the western countryside of the Al-Anbar Governorate, which borders Syria’s Deir Ezzor and Homs provinces.

Citing an Iraqi official, the Anadolu report alleged that the U.S. military forces were redeployed to this area to block the expansion of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) troops along the Syrian-Iraqi border.

With the Syrian Arab Army and Hashd Al-Shaabi preparing to launch a joint offensive in southeast Syria, the U.S. Armed Forces at the nearby Al-Tanf Base will likely be watching closely to ensure the pro-government troops don’t move into their zone of influence.
