BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:45 P.M.) – The U.S. Embassy in Jordan allegedly sent a message to Jordanian businessmen to stop trading with the Syrian government and to cancel all agreements with them, the STEP News Agency reported this week.
According to the report, if these businessmen do not cancel their trade agreements with the Syrian government, they will be blacklisted by the U.S. Embassy in Jordan.
Furthermore, these Jordanian businessmen will be sanctioned by the U.S. as part of their punishment for trading with the Syrian government.
Jordanian businesses have resumed trade and commerce with Syria following the reopening of the Nassib Crossing in southern Daraa last year.
Syria has often relied on Jordan, and vice versa, for imports as both nations have a long history of trade.
