Turkey is doing everything possible to prevent militant attacks on the Russian military base in Syria’s Hmeymim, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Thursday.

“We are making all efforts to prevent any attacks on Russia’s Hmeymim military base. Our military agencies act in a coordinated way”, Erdogan said before starting talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

He said Turkish drones “did not detect any hardware in the area”.

The statement addresses reports about the Al-Nusra Front* terror organisation that had attacked Syrian army positions in the Idlib de-escalation zone earlier in January.

According to Moscow, the situation in the zone could pose a serious danger to Russia’s Hmeymim airbase, as well as to civilians and Syrian troops in the area.

Russia also reported about numerous drone attacks on the airbase last year.

Yep. Erdo couldn’t fool himself, much less anyone else. I’m sure the Russians believe nothing he says and take all necessary steps to protect themselves. Erdo is transparent as h**l, he’s just too stupid to know it.

Pffff, Erdoan is bullshïtting again.
Pretty easy to secure Hmeimim, as there is already S-400 : add :
6x Pantsir-SM (12 missiles + 2x 30mm CIWS-gun per unit. Newest version, range is doubled to 40km)
4x 42S6 Morfey (36 IR-guided missiles, 10km range)
2x S-350 Vityaz (12 missiles/120km)
Mount 2-3x Su-57’s AESA radar systems and 2 OL-50M optronics/IRST on a blimp
Network it all.
OK, pretty expensive, but if you have €2bln of aircraft on a tarmac without hardened shelters, do not trust Erdogan’s parole : his book says he shall deceive the non-believers.

Sure Erdogan is doing all he can: sending truckloads of arms to HTS, trainng their men, giving political support and more. He is sure making Putin feeling secure.

At some point and at some moment, Turkey will betray Russia.
