KABUL, AFGHANISTAN (1:40 P.M.) – Media wing of Afghan islamist movement, Taliban, has published a statement claiming that at least 26 Afghan National Army (ANA) troops were killed in clashes with militants in Badakhshan province in northeastern Afghanistan.

According to the statement, four M4 assault rifles, 8 laser range-finding binoculars, a military vehicle and a large cache of ammunition and military hardware was captured by the jihadists, as well.

In the meantime, four Taliban jihadists were reportedly killed in clashes, another three wounded.

Taliban’s media also added that jihadists had taken over most of Qila-i-Zal district advancing in Kunduz province in norhern Afghanistan. Heavy clashes continue near the administrative center of the district.

Another battle unfolds in the area between cities of Kunduz and Khanabad where Taliban militants claim to have seized a string of ANA’s outposts while also attacking large military installations.

Four ANA’s tanks have been reportedly destroyed in Khanabad district where Taliban islamists also claim advances.
