Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) spokesperson Kino Gabriel said that the operation to defeat so-called Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) is to be completed within the next few days, speaking from eastern Baghouz village on Sunday.

“We have achieved great victories in the recent stages of the offensive against the ISIS terrorists,” Gabriel said, specifying that “the fighting is now confined to a tiny area in Baghouz town in eastern Deir ez-Zor.”

According to the SDF spokesperson, “the number of families of the terrorists who surrendered to our forces is 29,600 people.”

Without specifying the time and place, he added that “520” were captured during special SDF operations.

Gabriel stressed that he can’t give in an “exact timetable” however according to his estimation “it won’t take more than a week.”

  • Responding to a post’s tone instead of its actual content
  • Knee-jerk contradiction

Instead, provide reasoned counter-arguments that improve the conversation.
