BEIRUT, LEBANON (8:45 P.M.) – The Russian football team held their last training session ahead of their clash with Egypt, at the Saint Petersburg stadium on Monday.
Speaking at a post-training press conference, Russia’s manager Stanislav Cherchesov said Egypt were a consistent team. Cherchesov also said that Mohamed Salah, who is expected to make a return to the green pitch after a shoulder injury, stands out from their opponents.
“It’s clear, we are not playing against one footballer, but the whole team. Anyway we have to take this into account,” Cherchesov added.
Meanwhile, Russian striker Alan Dzagoyev was absent from his team’s training due to a hamstring injury he sustained in the match against Saudi Arabia, and will likely miss the upcoming match against Egypt.
Russia won 5:0 in its first World Cup match against Saudi Arabia on June 14, while Egypt lost 1:0 to Uruguay the following day.
