Over the past month, five Kurdish militants of PJAK and two Iranian Revolutionary Guards have been killed during clashes in the Sardasht region of Iran.

An engineer had also been killed during the skirmishes, according to Iranian state media.

PJAK, the ‘Free Life Party of Kurdistan’, is a Kurdish separatist movement operating in northwestern Iran and some border areas of Iraq. PJAK is outlawed by Tehran.

A ceasefire was otherwise signed by the Iranian government and PJAK in 2011, with Iran saying it would halt executions of PJAK prisoners if PJAK promised to stop its attacks.

With clashes between the parties surging in recent months, the nation-wide ceasefire is now seriously endangered.

Iran’s seven million Kurds make up approximately 10 percent of the total Iranian population.

Kurd’s are originally Persians. They should be proud of Iran since they are ethnically Iranian.

Yeah, but they are in an ideology with bits of socialism, bits of communism and bits of anarchism so theocracy=s**t… Well, even for those who worship one or several gods, theocracy sucks : those who enforce want nothing else than substitute themselves to God and act like s**t in the end. God doesn’t need them if he wants to punish someone if he wants to… Theocracies or religious laws have always proved just one thing : they make people live h**l on Earth… Politics sucks already more than enough and sucks even more when it messes with religion… The only… Read more »
