Arabia Saudita ha aumentando el uso de las bombas de racimo, interncacionalmente prohibidas, en sus ataques aéreos en Yemen, duplicando el numero de victimas entre niños y mujeres.

Segun la agencia de noticias yemení, SABA, los bombarderos saudíes atacaron ayer el distrito de Baqem en el norte de la provincia de Sa’ada con bombas de racimo.

Se cree que han muerto por lo menos 105 civiles yemeníes, en su mayoría mujeres y niños, por el uso indiscriminado por parte de los aviones saudíes de bombas de racimo.

Reuters publicó un informe de la Coalición contra las Bombas de Racimo (CMC), diciendo que estos misiles que pueden ser disparados hacia el suelo o el aire tienen la capacidad de convertirse en cientos de bombas mas pequeñas afectando una área mucho mayor.

Estas versiones más pequeñas de estas bombas sobreviven un largo periodo de tiempo en el suelo y actúan como una amenaza futura potencial ya que en tierra quedan como una mina terrestre. Debido a su diseño casi miniaturizado y apariencia de “juguete”, estas bombas representan un gran peligro para los niños en particular.
