BEIRUT, LEBANON (9:00 A.M.) – A Turkish Army soldier was killed on Sunday after the Kurdish-led People’s Protection Units (YPG) fired several artillery shells towards Afrin city.

According to reports from northwestern Aleppo, the YPG heavily shelled the Turkish Army’s positions near Afrin city after the latter attacked the former’s military posts in the northern part of the province.

Following the attack on the Afrin region of Aleppo, the Turkish Ministry of Defense announced the death of one of its soldiers as a result of the YPG’s shelling.

With the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) nearly defeated in eastern Syria, the YPG and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) can now afford to redeploy their troops from Deir Ezzor to the Turkish border.

This is incredibly important for the Syrian Democratic Forces because Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has hinted that his nation’s armed forces would be launching a new operation in the eastern region of the Euphrates River Valley once the local elections are done.

SDF forces have promised to step up attacks on Afrin in order to drive away Turks and their mercenaries from Syrian soil. A job the SAA seems to have forgotten. Turkey will reap what it has sown earlier.
