BEIRUT, LEBANON (6:30 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Air Force (SyAAF) and their Russian counterparts carried out a powerful assault over the southern countryside of the Idlib Governorate on Wednesday.
Led by the Sukhoi jets, the Syrian and Russian air forces launched heavy strikes on a Jaysh Al-Izza base near the key town of Khan Sheikhoun in southern Idlib this afternoon.
As a result of these airstrikes by the Syrian and Russian air forces, more than 20 Jaysh Al-Izza fighters were reportedly killed, along with a high ranking commander in the militant group.
The report added that many of the Jaysh al-Izza fighters are believed to be under rubble as they continue to clear up the area around their destroyed base.
The Syrian Air Force has targeted the area around Khan Sheikhoun on two different occasions in the last 24 hours, prompting the militants to fire a number of missiles and artillery shells towards the government-held towns in northern Hama.
