DAMASCUS, SYRIA (6:30 P.M)- Israel’s ‘Sea Wall’, constructed along side the Gaza Strip, has been completed.
According Israel’s Channel 10 News, the Israeli Army has confirmed the completion of its, 200 meter long and 50 meter wide, sea wall/barrier.
The wall was built with underground boulders, spying and tracking technology, topped off with a 20 foot tall ‘smart fence’.
The Israeli business magazine ‘Globes’ quoted engineering experts, on the 5th of Aug, 2018, stating that the estimated costs of the wall would be between 20-25 million NIS. The price however is estimated to have been higher.
The wall took seven months to complete and has come under fire internationally. The wall has been seen as further proof of Israel’s unwillingness to end its 12 year illegal siege on Gaza and its willingness spend money on tools to prolong the conflict, instead of relieving the humanitarian crisis of the population, under its duty, as an occupying power.
The Israeli Ministry of Environmental Protection issued a “warning”, back in August, that the wall would take up 50 meters of Zikim beach which is only 1KM long.
Israel has endured only a single attack from Hamas fighters, from the sea, which took place during the 2014 war upon Gaza. The 2014 attack, targeted an Israeli tank and was not a violation of International Law.
