BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:30 A.M.) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif is reportedly traveling from Tehran to Damascus to meet with Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad this week.
The meeting between the two men comes just a month after Zarif allegedly resigned from his post as Iranian Foreign Minister.
While no official announcement was made, some speculated that Zarif had resigned due to the fact he was not invited to the meeting between Assad, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, and the Quds Force commander Major General Qassem Suleimani.
Despite the rumors, Zarif remained in his role and continues to represent Iran’s foreign affairs.
In regards the meeting between Assad and Zarif, they will be discussing a number of topics, including the construction of a new railway between Damascus and Tehran.
