BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:20 P.M.) – Iran is preparing to launch the Doosti (Friendship) Satellite, which is the Islamic Republic’s only domestically-made satellite.

Speaking at the Sharif University of Technology of Tehran, an Iranian official said that the satellite will be launched in the next few weeks.

“More than fifty patented technologies have been used in the satellite,” the Iranian official Hossein Mokhtari said on Thursday. .

Regarding the recent Payam satellite that failed to reach space, Mokhtari said had it reached its intended speed, it would have stayed in orbit and done well.

On January 16, Iran reported that it has managed to successfully send Payam (Message) satellite into space but failed to practically place it into orbit.

One Official said that Payam satellite was very close to its target, adding that the scientific projects may sometimes be unsuccessful at the start of the operation.
