DAMASCUS, SYRIA (3:30 P.M.) – Despite being expelled from most of Iraq, underground Islamic State members are still present across most major cities, representing a menace to society.
A handful of photos released by Amaq Agency on Friday showed what it claimed an ambush on a lone Iraqi soldier, supposedly called Hamid Ali Muhammad Al-Faraji. He was executed on the spot in a northern suburb of Baghdad earlier this week.
Viewer discretion is advised:
Although fully under government control and heavily patrolled by security forces, Baghdad remains a persistent target for jihadist suicide bombers with numerous such attacks taking place each and every week.
However, the Iraqi Army officially restored the country’s second largest city, Mosul, under government control last month while new offensives are in the making to eliminate ISIS’ last strongholds in Tal Afar, Hawija and Anbar.
