BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:30 A.M.) – The residents of the occupied Golan Heights issued a statement on Friday condemning U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent comments about recognizing Israel’s sovereignty over this region.

In a statement on Friday, the people of the occupied Syrian Golan said: “Trump’s statements on the Golan didn’t come as something new because we are aware of his support for the head of the Israeli occupation entity Benjamin Netanyahu who is passing through a political and judicial crisis.”

“The current political scene is due to the steadfastness of the resistance axis and the failure of the hostile project against Syria.”

“The Syrian Arab people of the Golan previously stood in defiance of the French occupation; we will continue to adhere to the national stance of undermining many of the occupation’s projects, on top the annexation project, and we will adhere to our will which hasn’t been defeated.”

“The people of the occupied Syrian Golan affirm to the whole world, on top of the U.S. administration, that the stability in the region will not be realized through this continued occupation and through supporting and consolidating the racial policies of the Zionist entity.”

“As your previous projects have failed – although there were better U.S. presidents than you in the political and military domains –  it will fail again, so take the lessons from history…the final victory will be for the people who have the right no matter how long.”

Please treat this discussion with the same respect you would a public park. We, too, are a shared community resource — a place to share skills, knowledge and interests through ongoing conversation.

These are not hard and fast rules, merely guidelines to aid the human judgment of our community and keep this a clean and well-lighted place for civilized public discourse.

Improve the Discussion

Help us make this a great place for discussion by always working to improve the discussion in some way, however small. If you are not sure your post adds to the conversation, think over what you want to say and try again later.

Be Agreeable, Even When You Disagree

You may wish to respond to something by disagreeing with it. That’s fine. But remember to criticize ideas, not people. Please avoid:

  • Name-calling
  • Ad hominem attacks
  • Responding to a post’s tone instead of its actual content
  • Knee-jerk contradiction

Instead, provide reasoned counter-arguments that improve the conversation.
