BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:30 A.M.) – Filipino President Rodrigo Duterte insulted former US president Barack Obama over comments he made regarding the Philippines’ human rights record, as he spoke in Jerusalem on Sunday.
Duterte took issue with Obama’s public criticism and his ‘castigation’ of him, saying that he should have instead gone to the United Nations with complaints.
“Obama, you can go to hell, you son of a bitch,” Duterte said.
“He is not a civilised person anyway, being the president of a republic, you ought to know the basic rules. You do not criticise.”
The Filipino President has history with Obama, previously calling him a ‘son of a whore’ over his criticism of the Philippines’ drug policy.
Duterte is in Israel for four days as part of a regional tour, the first such visit by a Filipino leader for more than 60 years.
