El Ejército Árabe Sirio (EAS) frustró una nueva ofensiva de Jaysh al-Islam este lunes en la Guta Oriental, la zona rural cercana a Damasco, luego de revertir algunos de sus avances.

Liderado por la 105ª Brigada de la Guardia Republicana, el EAS logró capturar la Base de Defensa Aérea cerca del pueblo clave de Hazrama, forzando a los militantes de Jaysh al-Islam a retirarse ante el peligro de ser aplastados.

Luego de este avance, la Guardia Republicana logró liberar una serie de granjas ubicadas al norte de este pueblo, dejando a los terroristas con su espalda contra la muralla ante el rápido avance de las fuerzas gubernamentales.

Para empeorar la situación de los islamistas, el EAS logró reducir sus bajas gracias al apoyo de la Fuerza Aérea Rusa, que con las coordinadas de las posiciones rebeldes pudo atacarlas directamente.

Si Jaysh al-Islam y Faylaq al-Rahman son incapaces de revertir la situación en la Guta Oriental pronto, puede que el 2017 sea el año en que sean expulsados de la zona luego de ocuparla durante cuatro años.
