Hace pocos minutos el 550º Regimiento de la 4ª División Mecanizada del Ejército Árabe Sirio (EAS), junto a la Brigada de Halcones del Desierto, el Regimiento del Golán, los marines sirios y fuerzas del Partido Social Nacionalista de Siria, liberaron las montañas de Abu al-Zayn y el área de al-Masbah junto a la autopista Salamiyah-Raqqa.

De acuerdo a un corresponsal de Al-Masdar que se encuentra en terreno, las Fuerzas Armadas Sirias avanzaron 8 kilómetros hacia el este en la mencionada autopista, alcanzando los alrededores de al-Zakiyah, en el campo del oeste de la Gobernación de Raqqa.

La villa de al-Zakiyah y el cruce de caminos cercano están localizados en la frontera entre Hama y Raqqa; es necesario liberarlos antes de que las tropas sirias puedan realizar cualquier avance significativo hacia el Aeropuerto Militar de Tabaqa.

El corresponsal agregó que ningún soldado del EAS falleció en las operaciones y que ningún sitio ha sido perdido ante los terroristas, a pesar de las declaraciones realizadas por los medios de comunicación del Estado Islámico de Irak y Levante.
