BEIRUT, LEBANON (1:00 A.M.) – The Russian Air Force is currently flying over much of the western and southern countrysides of the Idlib Governorate this evening.
Speaking from the northern countryside of Hama, a source from the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) told Al-Masdar that the Russian jets are mostly flying over the Al-Ghaab Plain and Jabal Al-Zawiya region.
These two areas have a very large presence of jihadist rebels from Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham and the Turkestan Islamic Party.
Both of these aforementioned jihadist forces are considered by Moscow and Damascus to be terrorist groups that are not part of the September 17th Sochi Agreement.
While the Russian Air Force has yet to launch any strikes, it appears they are fixated on the jihadist positions in and around the western region of the Idlib Governorate.
The last time the Russian Air Force launched an attack on the Idlib Governorate, they targeted a command-and-control center that belonged to Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham in the Jabal Al-Zawiya area.
