Two planes from the Indian Air Force’s aerobatics team collided in mid-air during rehearsals for a show and plunged to the ground, killing one of the pilots, near Bangalore (Bengaluru) on Tuesday.

Footage shows the two Surya Kiran Hawk jets flying closer together before crashing and plunging to the ground. Huge plumes of smoke could be seen rising from the crash site.

One pilot died as a result of the crash. Two others managed to eject safely and were rushed to the hospital.

Holly fück! Hopefully, it was during rehearsals and nobody was where the jets crashed… Such an accident once happened during the Rammstein air-show with a triple collision in the Italian team. It killed near 130 persons.
I’ve always seen flying in close formation and team aerobatics as uselessly dangerous.
It would be way cooler to show use of weapons on a simulated battlefield and shooting down target drones so at least the public sees where the taxes go, instead of aerial ballet-dance.
Note also that IAF is known for its numerous crashes… Indian pilots like a lot daring ways of flying…
