BEIRUT, LEBANON (12:30 P.M.) – The Houthi forces launched an imperative offensive in the southern part of the Hodeidah Governorate, today, targeting the areas controlled by the UAE-backed Giants Brigade.
Backed by heavy artillery, the Houthi forces stormed the defenses of the Giants Brigade in the northern part of the Hays District; this would result in a heavy battle that is still ongoing at this time.
According to a field report from the Hays District, the Houthi forces are looking to expel the Giants Brigade from this area and force the remaining UAE-backed troops to leave the southern outskirts of Hodeidah city.
This offensive by the Houthi forces is considered a violation of the U.N.-sponsored ceasefire, which is currently in effect across the entire Hodeidah Governorate.
This ceasefire was put in place by the United Nations at the start of this year; it has remained in tact for the most part, despite repeated violations by all warring parties.
