BEIRUT, LEBANON (6:10 P.M.) – A series of intense clashes broke-out inside the Yemeni port city of Hodeidah after the Saudi-backed Yemeni National Army attacked a group of Houthi fighters, local activists reported on Monday.

According to the activists, the Yemeni National Army attacked the Houthi forces at the southeastern axis of Hodeidah city.

The reports did not indicate why the Yemeni National Army attacked the Houthi forces; however, tensions have been rising lately as the Saudi Coalition accused the Houthi forces of refusing to leave Hodeidah.

At the start of the year, the United Nations announced the start of a ceasefire inside the Hodeidah Governorate.

Since the implementation of the U.N.-sponsored ceasefire, both sides have exchanged weekly hostilities while avoiding all-out war inside Hodeidah.
