BEIRUT, LEBANON (7:10 P.M.) – A large number of Amal Movement supporters took to the streets of Beirut, today, to protest the leaked remarks Lebanese Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil made about Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri.

The demonstrators lit on fire several trash cans and tires in protest of Bassil’s remarks, while marching through the streets of the Sports City and Cola neighborhoods.

The Amal Movement released a statement in conjunction with the protests, claiming that Bassil was attempting to cause internal strife in Lebanon.

“Bassil’s remarks are an open call for strife,” the movement warned in a statement.

“That’s why we call on all those concerned to rein in the hot heads and the delusional minds before it’s too late,” AMAL added.

Harakat Amal was responding to a leaked video of Basil calling Berri a ‘thug’ and ‘bully’ over his open call for boycott of the Lebanese Diaspora Energy Conference for Africa.

I fear that all former Lebanese militia are likely to re-arm :
All agreed to give up their armed branches after the 2006 UNSC resolution, but one : Hezbollah.
If all militias but one accepted, it makes the resolution void.
Lebanese civil war may end resuming in the end 🙁
